Synopsys to acquire graphics software maker Ansys in $35 billion tech deal

Synopsys plans to acquire Ansys in a $35 billion cash-and-stock deal. The acquisition will merge the two software firms. The deal is expected to close in the first half of 2025, subject to regulatory and shareholder approval. Synopsys shares rose 3% following the announcement, while Ansys shares slipped 4%. Ansys shareholders will own 16.5% of Synopsys after the merger. The deal will be financed partially through debt and partially with Synopsys’ cash. The acquisition is one of the largest tech deals in recent years.
